Why Vacilando?

Website Vacilando.org represents a broad metaphor of travel in all senses of the term.
My choice of the domain name has been inspired by a few lines found in a book by Steinbeck.
In Spanish there is a word for which I can't find a counterword in English. It is the verb vacilar, present participle vacilando. It does not mean vacillating at all. If one is vacilando, he is going somewhere but doesn't greatly care whether or not he gets there, although he has direction.
This website was established on December 12, 1996 in Leuven, Belgium. Its primary domain is vacilando.org, though there are a number of aliases, including .ai, .eu, .io, .is, .net, .sk, etc. It contains blog items, articles, thematic collections, quotes, web links and other content — see a few figures here.
